Skills for Life
The Certificates in Adult Numeracy and Adult Literacy contribute to the Government's Skills for Life strategy in England, as well as the National Basic Skills Strategy for Wales (Words Talk Numbers Count). These qualifications are intended for learners who have been following the adult numeracy or adult literacy core curriculum and are assessed against the national standards.
The qualifications are designed primarily for adult learners, although are also approved for pre-16s in England and Wales.
Assessment - Levels 1 and 2
All levels 1 and 2, candidates take the adult numeracy/literacy national tests.
The tests are multiple choice at levels
1 and 2, with short/extended answer questions or tasks at levels 3 and
4. Each test has a specification setting out the typical range of skills
assessed and how marks are allocated.
