What are the benefits of work based learning for me?
A nationally recognised qualification
You can apply what you learn right away
A qualification which will transfer with you to whatever you work in the future
It will not cost you anything - you get paid while you train
It will help you to identify what you do well and what additional skills you need in performing your job role
It could help you earn more and even increase your chances of getting promoted!
How do I know which course is best for me?
BMR's specialist staff will talk to you and to your employer and provide
information, advice and guidance on a range of alternatives to meet
present and future training needs.
How will I be assessed?
Where possible, we keep 'the written word' to a minimum, using MP3 players
to record statements, answers to questions etc. Depending on the course
you take, you may have some written tests (often done online) and will
put together a portfolio of evidence. Your tutor will guide you through
the process.
How much work will be involved?
There is no such thing as free lunch, we wish there was! All the work
you do is directly related to your job role, enabling you to see the
relevance and build upon skills you have already developed. On average,
an NVQ takes 12 - 15 months to complete.
Where can I get help if I am struggling?
You will have your own tutor assigned to you. Before you start the course,
your tutor will discuss any help you think you are likely to need and
work out with you how to access support. If you have any concerns at
any time during the programme, you can contact your tutor at any time.
I work shifts which are not always at the same times every week. Will
this be a problem?
This is not a problem as our assessors are available to you 24/7. They
will have worked in your sector and understand your work patterns.
